7 Ways to Speed Up Slow Windows 11/10 Boot Times

Waiting several minutes for your computer to reach a responsive desktop is a major productivity killer. Here are 7 proven tweaks to optimize your startup sequence.

1. Disable High-Impact Startup Apps

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, then click the Startup apps tab. Sort by Startup impact and disable non-essential items like game launchers, chat apps, and utility updaters.

2. Enable Windows Fast Startup

Fast Startup puts your kernel into a lightweight hibernation state rather than a cold shutdown, drastically reducing boot times.

  1. Open Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
  2. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  3. Check Turn on fast startup (recommended) and save changes.

3. Trim & Optimize Your SSD

Search for Defragment and Optimize Drives in the Start menu. Select your system SSD (C:) and click Optimize to run the TRIM command, allowing the drive to clean unused storage blocks.
